Same Sex Marriage, and Divorce, in Canada

Recent controversy has revealed that the government may not recognize a same-sex marriage as valid if it is illegal where the couple lives. Ironically this came to light because of the issue of same sex divorce — as it stands right now, you can marry your same-sex partner in Canada, but you have no legal way to divorce them.

Let’s hope human rights prevail on this issue, and that Canada takes a strong lead in securing equal rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation (or country of residence for that matter).
